Recent News

Holiday Greetings 2008 from Tom Paoli & Chuck Geerhart

We are completing the most successful year in our 10 year history, which means we served our clients well. In November, we resolved for the insurance policy limit a tragic case in which a tour bus ran over a pedestrian, which caused a degloving injury to both of her legs and feet. Her past medical expenses alone were over $1M – this settlement provides compensation for her injuries and ensures she will have the care she needs for the rest of her life.

Among the other cases we successfully resolved were:

  • Drunk driving wrongful death action
  • Fall down stairs with non-code compliant handrail
  • Trip and fall on negligently placed floor cables at Moscone Center
  • Legal malpractice– improper withholding of client funds
  • Assault by store employee on homeless man
  • Insurance bad faith– improper withholding of death benefits
  • Trip and fall on poorly marked street excavation
  • San Francisco Muni LRV door malfunction

We are also preparing to go to trial early in 2009 in a major spinal injury case, and are representing the children of a construction worker killed when a PG & E boiler collapsed on him at the Hunter’s Point plant. So we expect 2009 to be another challenging year as we fight on for our clients.

We never stop learning how to be better lawyers. Tom Paoli attended a 40 hour course on advanced mediation techniques. Chuck Geerhart traveled to Washington, DC, to attend a leading civil rights seminar at Georgetown University Law Center. This advanced training will help us better serve our clients.

We continue to be involved in the community, by donating our time for pro bono legal matters, and donating funds to worthy charities and other non-profits in the Bay Area (we’ve added a section on our website on how we support the community).

We would love to keep in touch with all of our clients– please feel free to call so we can catch up. We wish you all a successful, safe and healthy New Year!
